acting in movies will get you good money, especially because this is a country where there are tens of crores of people who are too poor to afford any other way or know any other way to entertain themselves or keep themselves engaged after work !
But the world of Indian movies has changed a lot from what it was till a few decades ago. And the most significant change is in quantity. The number of movies being made by an ever lengthening list of producers and directors keeps mounting year after year. And the number of artistes making that much vaunted break into movie acting too has seen a very big jump, so much so that the general public cannot be faulted if it does not recognise or would care to remember the names of most movie actors of today who have acted only in a limited number of films.
While in terms of income, movie acting has become much more attractive today than what it used to be, in terms of fame, it has become less effective a vehicle due to the sheer number of the movie artistes !
