KHANS CAN TAKE A WALK !
by alan fernandes on May 01, 2017 01:52 AM

The Khans can never match the charisma, leave aside looks, of Vinod Khanna. Their not being present for his funeral cannot make a difference to Vinod Khanna fans who have been living for the past 45 years mesmerised by his performances and persona.

They are in the hearts of cinegoers forever
by Ramesh Joshi on Apr 30, 2017 04:00 PM

Actors like Vinod Khanna can not be judged by which actor turned up and who did not. Because they remain in the hearts of cinegoers of their times forever.

Thank you for showing us the mirror and the hard realities. That's how most Indians are - opportunistic and callous. Tun Tun ji (Uma Devi ji) used to lift a film with her sheer presence as most films in those days were grim and full of pathos. No wonder that she, Mehmood sahab, Johnie Walker sahab and others created their own niche in the film industry. And, why blame the Hindi film industry, they are still better off than the rest of the Indian society, mostly, because they see life bare and naked than us. Most of his peers turned up for the last journey.

Yeh hai Mumbai, or Bombay!
by Bharat Kumar on Apr 29, 2017 08:15 AM

Looks like there are no vultures left in Mumbai ! They arrive in droves to clean up naturally - ordained, if not ordered.

Funeral attendance ? How much more does an individual or a society demand of each other? ! We have millions who die with no dignity of a funeral, forget even a decent one.

The millions including animals. Out in the wild, the nature ensures the dead are scavenged - all the animals do the honours because it benefits them. But the same isn't true in a zoo!

Moral - people attend in death for finer emotions, or for commercial benefit. If photo ops were worth it, every agent of every celebrity would have bought the ticket. Media holds a mirror to the society, a distorted looking glass.

Wow, what a lovely article
by Chaitanya on Apr 28, 2017 10:44 PM

@Syed Firdaus Ashraf:

Loved this article:

(1) Reminds us about a certain reality of life

(2) Tells it "gently" without offending / belittling anyone (neither the people who got a big send-off, nor the ones who did not)

(3) Loved the subtle humor of this line: "This was pre-Twitter, so one could not even outrage about this except to oneself and to one's close friends."

was it a boycott because of anti_BJP feeling amongst the 'new'gen
by RAVICHANDER S on Apr 28, 2017 07:07 PM  | Hide replies

Is it because the so-called new generation of Bollywood did not attend Vinodji's funeral/pay respects because he was a BJP MP or was linked with 'Osho' Rajneesh? Is Mr. Firdaus trying to justify or was it an organised boycott by the current crop of 'Khan' stars?

Not attending the funeral of someone who is not close to you is not a crime.

Nothing is a crime, Tom. But I hope your funeral is well-attended by all close, including people who worked with you and did not forget you later,
