Nothing offensive in callng a dark-skinned person so
by akesh grover on Sep 29, 2016 04:25 PM  | Hide replies

In a country, where the adjective "dark" is prevalently used for men (in India, it is expected of men to be tall, dark, handsome), why can't the same adjective be used for women? Why is it that men can be given any adjective but women not?

Dark skin prejudice

I agree with Tannistha. Dark skin girls are looked down by everyone including their family members. I have personally gone through such humiliation.

Skin Tone
by niladri mohanty on Sep 29, 2016 04:30 AM

In late 1970s I was visiting Hindustan Unilever's factory at Sewri in Mumbai. Just a couple years earlier they introduced the fairness cream "Fair & Lovely". I told a senior executive of the company that they are cheating the people by their advertisement of the cream and he vehemently denied my accusation and told a method to try for it myself. Anyway I never tried it. He also told me that Fair&Lovely was in great demand in Bangladesh and they had to work extra shifts to meet the demand . The problem is that many people in India and Bangladesh are dark skinned. Perhaps in Pakistan number of dark skinned people is less. This is weakness in the sub continent. In western countries there dark skin is an attraction. My daughter in law's sister in law is extremely beautiful but dark skinned and in my opinion her skin tone has not diminished her beauty. I do not agree that bias against dark skin tone is caste related. There are many upper caste ladies with very dark skin complexion and similarly there are fair ladies among the so called lower caste though their number is comparatively less.

Dark colored upper caste people also exist in India. Seems to be a good promotion for her movie. Comedy Nights Pakao oops Bachao has always been obnoxiously abusive. She surely knew what was coming around.

due to derogatory dialogues, show is coming after 10pm. i think this show should come after midnight as it does not control to what extent the social problems can be used to make fun of.
