Much ado about nothing

I am a Catholic and I am not the least hurt or insulted by Hrithik's statement referring to the Pope. He must have meant it as a figure of speech and while it shows his level of intelligence, this is nothing to be made an issue of.

I second you on this. We Indians, be of any religion gets unnecessarily emotional & sentimental about nonsensical things especially about religion.

And that's precisely why the Indian Psyche in general is getting more & more INTOLERANT even about any sort of healthy sarcastic comment.

This was not the case with India till 20-25 years ago...we are going in reverse direction in the history & becoming more & more orthodox, stiff & insensitive. We can't even digest a comment simply made out of humour with no intentions of hurting someone whatsoever.....& this is the truth for people of all faiths & religions.

Now if you take the example of Hrithik's statement, all he wanted to say was that his chances of linking him with some of the women are very much impossible or nonsensical.

Chances of Pope having an affair are extremely impossible. So , he in a way was praising the Pope there with his humour.

But I really impressed with the maturity & sensibleness that Christian common people have shown in this matter. They really took it as a humour, which is exactly the way that should have been taken.
But it really frightens me, had he mentioned some Moslem or Hyndu priest like that then what would have been the reaction of those people ?
