Your article is actually a good read. By the headline, I thought it would be a one sided view but your reasons seem and opinion seem perfect. And ultimately we should not forget, be it Oscars, Globes or Baftas...awards have become the best way to celebrate the life of movies.

mad max fury....or madness at its best..

quote\'Mad Max: Fury Road is a work of enormous vision, rule-defying bravado and striking originality which flattens audiences with ingenuity, clarity and adrenaline. It is a progressive, modern, thematically strong, diverse, feminist statement wrapped up, quite miraculously, into a thrilling package.\'unquote. I did not see any of these superlatives except for tons of dust, unnecessary hightech armada, half hand charlize, senseless brutality, eccentric facials et al. Hardy\'s face was hardly seen for half movie. No storyline and no clue as to who is running where and why. Why is it that oscars are wasted on such hyped-video-game-like crap

"The English Patient robbed Fargo"The Kings speech-a middling film.So says our Raja. And so it should be That is the tone Mr Sen generally uses when puttting fort his opinion.
I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions, but i find Mr sen,s analysis always contrary to popular perceptions.I personally felt the Kings speech one of the best movies to come out of hollywood in the past decade and the English Patient perhaps the finest love story ever made for the screen.

Coming to Forrest Gump ,Ive always had a liking for "voice over "films,so again I thought the academy got it right .Just sheer bad luck that Pulp Fiction had to contend with it the same year. But with the benefit of hindsight I think ForrestGump has withstood the passage of time a tad better than Pulp Fiction.Just a tad.

Also Raja Sen Mad Max was definitely a well made movie in all respects and was entertaining as well cant still get over the mind blowing photography and editing with good actors like Thomas Hardy and Charlize theron to boot....not that Spotlight was less deserving....Spotlight had taken a realistic take on actual incidents and was revolutionary for journalism....but still feel Mad Max deserved the best movie category

Mark Rylance deserved his Oscar it was a subtle and great performance ,so did Alicia vikander for her heartrending performance in The Danish Girl, but personally felt Cate Blanchett was really good as compared to the actress in Room, maybe she had already one two academy awards she was sidelined...Leonardo was good but was better in his earlier movies like Aviator and Wolf of wall street etc
