I remember the Irrfan Khan in year 2000. We were standing nearby at the Kala Ghoda festival watching the tabla maestro Zakir Hussain play the tabla. He was not much of a celebratory then. I have always loved his acting and the roles he played in various films. Restrained acting, getting to the skin of the character and the character fleshed out for the audience. He is an actor who evolves with each role that he plays, a cerebral character thinking all the time about his role and how to enrich it and make it different. Very down to earth and someone who is not afraid to voice his opinion and take on the clerics if need be. May your tribe increase. He is an astute observer of current affairs and men and matters.
