The real heros were a 51 member committee headed by late mr. Vedi. There were many others the director left out. Mr. Thomas chandy, mr. Abey varicad, Narindar Singh Sethi, N.V.K. Warrier, Riy Abraham, Thomas Chandy, K.K. Nair, Ali Hussain are a few others besides mr. sunny mathews.
I was also stranded up there , just after getting my first salary on Aug 1 . But we returned via road to Amman and then to planes . Spent 6 days at no moan's land between Iraq and Jordan , virtually under a bedsheet tent . Lot of confusion was there at all points. zThe final phase was at Amman airport , we we had to stand in line at the open parking place for a long 26 hours !!! But I went back and have seen total darkness at noon !. Also spent several years in Jordan . All nice memories now . I appreciate the efforts done by Indian Govt

I was also one stranded up there. But I went to Saudi Arabia on 11th August. Spent 3 day at Saudi check post till indian embassy people came and we were kind of handedover to them. From there I went to dharan. wwere one of my friend bought me a ticket and 16th August i came to mumbai with one pair of dress which i was wearing and my passport. I too went back and finally return to indian in 2013. to evacuate such number of people was a easy job but what a commanding and excellant job india did.
