Hrishida's best and Dharamji's best. A masterpiece about truth, trials of an honest man and rampant corruption in immediate post independence India. The scenes mentioned are just mind blowing and fills the heart with grief and compassion. The revelation of truth to Ashok Kumar by little Satyakam is again mindblowing and a jewel of cinema. A brilliant uncompromising film raises qualms in viewers mind.... the hero is flawed and heroine is not chaste. The hero or truth doesnot necessarily wins in the end and thus not very popular with masses but loved by classes.
