Hemant Gahlot
the review of Mohenjo Daro
by Hemant Gahlot on Aug 24, 2016 09:19 PM

Dr. Siddiqui\\\'s review discusses freely the use of histroy in the film and its portryal. I\\\'ve not seen the film and hence can accept all that he talked about the justified display of the historical facts with cinamatic lincensses. What drew my attention was the last sentence. It seems like people in our country are brought ot understand and learn the facts through films alone. Recently I read Mr. Salim, the famous film-maker or stroy writer preferably saying that Milkha Singh was \\\"resurrected\\\' by the film made on him else he was doomed to oblivion. This is amazing that the entertainer soon becomes a preacher and others, specially critics on films, take on that job too prematurishly. Milkha and the Harappan Civilization don\\\'t need film makers and critics to survive. on the other hand they survive on their behest and also encash their pecualiarities. ultimately it is money involved and nothing else.

Mona S Khan
A thought

Like any historical film or drama, the subject gives the filmmaker almost total liberty to deal with his content in any desired way. Perhaps this is what separates a narrative from a documentary. The main concern of such treatment of a periodical concern, however,is to achieve a better understanding of the past based not only on the knowledge of a specific historical time but, more importantly, on the human response to the possibilities available in that past, and to relate differently to it. The film permits a great variety of approaches, in which case what matters is the treatment given to the content, provided it is not distorted to the extent to serve contingent ulterior motives.

I sincerely thanks Mr. Ashutosh Gowariker for giving a masterpiece to Bollywood.
I also sincerely thank the following people for working hard and putting all their efforts for creating a base of which this movie is based -
The makers of the Hollywood movie "Glaidator"
The makers of the Hollywood movie "10000 BC"
The makers of the Hollywood movie "National Treasure"
And the makers of all the other Historical Hollywood movies based on ancient age.
All the novelists of western origin for indirectly contributing to the drafting of the script of this movie by publishing all those historical fiction novels.
IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO PRODUCE THIS MOVIE WITHOUT THE HARD EFFORTS PUT BY THE ABOVE MENTIONED PEOPLE.
