Yeah.. Umesh.. Right.
Bcoz I also used to SHort form use that word to refer to a Keralite or Malayalee as MALLU.. & one of my Malabar Colleagues told me.. its A Slang name...for MONKEY!!!
So Rediff Better Take Notice..to avoid Hurt sentiments..
