Yes, Amjad Khan's 'Gabbar Singh' role was unique and I don't think anyone else could have done as gud as Amjad. I do appreciate Danny's good villain roles in many films but no Amjad's match in Sholay. Amjad, after Sholay has played villain roles in many films but no match for his unique role in Sholary. He set a standard not only for his own self but also for others in Sholay.

It could have been same with Danny or Ajit or even Sanjeev Kapoor. Sholay was a super-duper hit because it ushered Indian cinema to a new genre of action. True, films before that had action too but mostly towards the end but Sholay changed it all, it is out and out action film from beginning to end. Although it is action film, it does not have any meaningless action scenes and they were not gory too. Add to it the music, the background score, the dialogs, the pace, the story telling methods, the cinematography, the comedy, the drama, the dialogs, the death of one of the leading man, there are so many such firsts which people lapped up. Even today I enjoy watching Sholay and many people in industry take it as benchmark for action films. The next benchmark action movie is Shiva, which also introduced many firsts. In any actor could have become legend with Sholay, it just happened that Amjad Khan was the chosen one in this case

wrong.. Had danny or any other guy played the role of gabbar, all the credit for success would have shared between dharmendra and amitabh.. But its a kind of rare movie where villain got equal or even higher fame than heroes.. Sholay would have been hit anyways but danny or any other villain couldnt have given the performance of amjad..
