I'm being a bit harsh... but please understand that people sleep on footpaths / pavements not by choice but due to circumstances. Like, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are made to hear some donkeys singing songs..... got it?
We all must support him, case was very simple, if given chance to Salman to settle amicably with the sufferer and minor penalty for drunk driving. In the present scene it took 13 years with no proper compensation to sufferer. This is joke of our judicial system. We all must condemn such insolvency of mind.

Train takes at least 1 minute to come to a halt from its normal speed. A car takes 5 seconds max. Train derailments are due to technical faults (mostly). Car 'derailment' is not a technical fault unless the brakes failed. In Salman's case, he was drunk and he crushed people under his wheels. If footpaths are not meant for sleeping, then they are not meant for driving cars either.

Yes.... if a train derails because the driver is drunk, he will be arrested. And, if someone is killed by that derailment, it will be treated as a culpable homicide. I hope you got the point....
surrenders and proves that he had been nice and helped thousands of people in last 2 or 3 decades, should the honourable court give lesser punishment...
it is not to compare Salman with Dawood, but law is law.. there could be people who now say that he is a great human being, nice guy etc., but what was he and his behaviour before 2002.
Repeated attempts by him, last one decade to escape from crime-punishment is good enough to prove that he was on the wrong side, to be precise he was WRONG...
Its not request, but the film-fraternity should go understand human values and law of society, other-wise entire industry will be viewed as full or mostly of DEMONS, who have scant respect for law of land..
Re: salman deserves a bigger punishment

Yup. Just because he is a celebrity, people are coming to his defense. He committed a crime. He got what he deserved, end of story.
my question is there are numerous instances of hit and run case convicted involving common man and drivers in different parts of the cuntries . Is the same yard stick used by the law . Just because one is a celebrity dragonian laws should not be forced
Re: law should be equal to all.

Or you could say, just because he is a celebrity, he should not be allowed reprieve. I understand how hurtful the sentence was to him, but just for a moment, imagine the grief of the family one of whom he crushed under his wheels. We should be happy that justice was served without regard of the social status of the culprit.
idolising such people in india is a shame really. these people neither make good movies nor have the decency to live in a civil society and yet they are given vip treatment. that's a shame
If all of these celebrities saying SK is a good human being, then he must be one. Now, he has made a mistake, terrible one, he needs to accept the verdict with the same big heart. And the PSYCHOPHANCY should stop...
