To me, Omar Sharif, is and always will remain, Dr Zhivago. That movie has been like an emotional watershed in my life.
There will never be another movie like Dr Zhivago....and there will never be another romantic hero like Omar Sharif. The story line...the panoramic vistas...the music..and of course Lara !

HOw can one forget the terrific screen presence in the western classic "Mackennas gold". where Omar sharif stole many scenes under the nose of a class actor Gregory Peck ? The comic stuff, the vicious smile and a happy go lucky way made the character of Sharif memorable. Definitely ,Omar is one of the highlights of this unforgettable classic .

Hats off to him.
The legendary Hollywood whom I loved more than girls in late 60's and early 70's
We want to revive our memories by seeing old classics in theaters but not possible.
Can some one request to telecast such old classics on DD without break ? We have had enough of Khans and Co.
and now it,s high time to go back to history.

Correct. In the article I do not find any reference of Mackenna\'s Gold where my idol somehow shadowed actor like Gregory Peck

Alas, that was the only movie where I saw him. And I was too consumed by revulsion for him as the bad guy to care about his acting or his looks.
RIP Mr Sharif. You had a glorious life. Hope you have a better time up there. And I will definitely watch your other movies especially Lawrence of Arabia (which has been on my to watch list for a long time) and Dr Zhivago.
