FTII
by Dipankar Mukherji on Jul 10, 2015 11:04 AM

For the last 65 years FTII has been always on strike. In 1989 when Benegal came they were at middle of the strike. There are some old students who have not cleared for last 6/7 years and they are the Students union head. FTII has had a history of strikes. That time TV was not there or before 1992 only doordrshan was there. The good students are sufffering bcoz of union leaders [failures].

Gajendra Chouhan & Film Institute.
by on Jul 10, 2015 10:33 AM

Gajendra Chouhan is yet to take charge. Before that how his performance can be judged. Moreover selection of the head of the institution is done by the concerned authorities on merit. It looks funny students want to have their choice of a Head of the Institution. There may be someone playing from behind, the motive is unknown.

The politics in the student community only makes the FTII fit to be called or re named as Institute for Political Training!

Exactly. This is what I too wanted to ask. It is now we are coming to know that Pallavi Joshi was a part of the Institution. I was just wondering where she vanished so shortly from the film world.

Gajendra Chauhan appointmed as Chairman , FTII
by Pradip Shah on Jul 10, 2015 09:36 AM  | Hide replies

Yesterday night I saw debate show on Times Now anchored by Arnab Goswamy where Gajendra Chauhan was one of the panalist on the show with Anupam Kher, Paintal etc. Gajendra Chauhan could not give even a single reason why he is fit for the job of FTII as a Chairman. Anupam Kher point blankly and frankly said that he is totally unfit for the job and he can not defend himself in the matter. Gajendra Chauhan said he has worked in nearly 700 films and has worked with Hema Malini for 20 years and his main achievment was having a role in Maharashtra. It was shocking to know from him that whatever film run for silver jubilee whether it is C grade film or not be considered as A class film. This man has earlier worked in C grade vulgar films and even after 20 years he gets role as supporting actor only which can be treated as glorified extra. He dont know anything about the global cinema and has never attended any film festival even in Mumbai. He will surely become a laughing stock in presence of foreign film makers and will not be in a position to discuss anything about a good cinema. This is nothing but he has got a reward for being loyal to BJP and got the position which certainly he dont deserve it at all. It is in his own interest to step down from his post to avoid any contoversies and embrassment to himself.

Very funny. Why you expect Gajendra Chouhan to justify his selection. He is not the person who selected him. This question is to be answered by the people who selected him.

If a person find himself not suitable for he job and feel that he is not qualified and has no merit and will not justify his selection and do proper justice to his job because of his incpabilities and lack of required understanding, he should very well refuse to take responsibilities. No one can stop him from his decision. If he still prefer to refuse governments offer for the post of Chairman, FTII, people will respect him.

What right does arnob have to ask him what is a good cinema. Is there a single definition for this. Totally Bull Sh** question. Answer to good cinema is varied. Each one can answer that differently. Chouhan is correct in not answering the question. Does have the capability what is a good cinema - Is he a Judge.

Gajendra Chauhan had every right to refuse to participate in the debate show knowing well that he will be cornered by mainly Arnab Goswamy and others. But once he opted to participate, he should have used this goldern opportunity on live media to give proper replies and convince the viewers why is being selected as a suitable candidate for the post and he is capable to give justice to his new assignment properly ,efficiently and effectively. Even his industry colleague Anupam Kher, whose wife is also BJP MP was not convinced about the ability of Chauhan for the post of Chairman of FTII and frankly adviced him to not to put futile efforts to defend himself. Gajendra Chauhan was fully exposed before the nation and there in no doubt that his selection is based on his loyalty to the BJP and not on a pure merit.

Bollywood always thinks TV personalities as inferior. Rishi and Ranbir also think the same. Big Screen ppl shud not think small screen ppl are not good. The fact that Chauhan was selected after 4 interviews. Check ur facts and dont just blabber.

Just imagine what this person must have said in his four interviews to the people who took his interview.the person who can not give convincing replies to Arnab Goswamy on national TV and defend himself Properly and make himself a laughing stock before the live audience should not be made Chairman of FTII.
