I agree with Ashok Pandit's views.Use of bad words and vulgarity in cinema, theatres and stage shows has increased enormously in last 10-12 years -decency level has gone down to 3/10. This is also the reason of increase in murders, suicides and rapes. Ultimately, the society on the whole is at loss because of poor culture of producers, directors and actors. Kirit Bookseller
AIB roast is the best thing done by these guys in long time. Perfect comedy. If you dont like it then dont watch. Simple.
But banning it, asking for apologies etc is not good. The people who made the jokes and the people about whom the jokes were made are both silent. Then what right does anyone else have on the matter?

I think we are missing the point here.
I saw this episode and stopped after 25 -30 mins, not because it was vulgar but because I didn't find it funny. I'm all for freedom of expression but the point here is did the organizers take necessary permissions to have this function clearly mentioning what it is about and what language will be used? I don't think and that is what the issue is. Otherwise, "the people who made the jokes and the people about whom the jokes were made are both silent" argument stands good for prostitution also - the woman who takes money and the man who pays money for the act are both mature, consenting adults and are happy - so why does anyone else have any objection to it.
Its therefore more about not following the process rather than the act itself.

comparing this incident to prostitution is like comparing apples and oranges. You can do it but essentially these items are not comparable.
While AIB was open to all to view, prostitution is done within closed doors in some obscure locales in the city.
Originally the whole criticism about this show was about the vulgarity and the crass remarks. But most people liked it and there are 8 million of them. So they realised that this argument needs to be changed to "Did they follow the rules and get permission". This is a decent argument and they should have taken all necessary permissions.
But that apart, the show itself was a great success as are most roast shows in other countries. This is a great platform that has been presented for making the nastiest jokes on people without feeling bad.
Now we can argue about Deepika felt bad about the TOI episode but she was fine with jokes in AIB. Well i will feel bad if someone whom I dont know, making comments on me. But I might be ok if the same comment is made by a friend. It is logical and probably a little hypocritical but still everyone can chose what to like So if you didnt like it after 20-25 mins and didnt feel that it was funny, thats fine. Close the browser and move on. But for me and 8 millions others, it was the heartiest laugh i had in a long long time.
The whole point is that the decision is yours, you can choose to critise or appreciate or remain neutral. But thats doesnt mean that the show was bad. It
