When Rafi Saab had been conferred the "Padmashree" he told to the press "let all get the Padmashree".
As far as Kerala is concerned they are treating him as their own singer.He even conducted live programmes in small towns other than big cities.In Calicut alone there are at least four Fan Clubs of him.It is a fashion that for marriage parties and other get together there used to be "Rafi Nights". One fan in Alleppy build a concrete bus shelter and named after him.Another fan in Calicut became radio repairer only to hear the voice of Rafi Saab through Vividh Bharathi and Radio Cylon which was available those days.These are all happening without singing in that state language.The fan who built the concrete bus shelter is a porter and he even conducting Rafi Nights on every 31st July with his hard earned money and borrowing from others.There is a Malayalam Calendar "Mathrubhumi Calendar" and in that 31st July as the death anniversary of "Mohamed Rafi".Interestingly even veteran Malayalam actors like Sathyan,Prem nazir,Jayan etc.who passed away did not find their death anniversaries.
Rafisaab, we cannot compare you with any singer, all the singers of yesteryears and even today held you in high esteem, be it kishore da, mukesh, manna de,yesudas, sp balasubramanium, sonu nigam,uditnarayan, you have inspired all them and will definetely inspire generations to come.there cannot be another RAFI. we love you and will love you till end.
Ghantasal Venkateswar Rao Voice is Nabootho and Nabhavishyath. Singing Sanskrit songs, All south indian languages, Voice of melody and no one can sing a song which reveals the sorrow thoughts. Poems by him fantastic to listen. Yes He is equal to Mr. Rafi

Sir, Ghantasala's voice is devine and Rafi sabs is Amrutam. Please do not compare
We should never compare two artists. The point here is if the voice is touching our inner cord.M Rafi,Kishore,Mukesh,Yesudas, Lata,Asha and lot others are masters and they have their own class. Its unfair to compare them with each others. Rafi had a great voice and heart. We love him for what he have given us to cherish.

Sir, both are good - but Rafi is Rafi.....no other voice is sweeter than Rafi's ...he was blessed.

Please don't compare anyone with Rafi Saab. Yesudas is definitely as great singer, but even he considers Mohd.Rafi his guru.
Thanks rediff in remembering the great singer of all the time. In fact rediff is the only place where we have seen lots of article being published on this great Singer.
