For a good script, they turn to Malayalam. Some dont even acknowledge it. A Hindi film starring Amitabh Bachhan and Hema Malini and Salman Khan (Baghban I think) was lifted from Malayalam film 'School Master' released in the 60's. All the main actors in the film are no more.

Hello Mr.Don't be smart School Master is original Kannada film directed by B.R.Patulu in 1958 & afterwards it has been dubbed to all South Languages, again it is made in Kannada as Maneye Matralaya in which Anant Nag acted then it is remade in Hindi as Baghban !!
Undoubtedly Mohan is the natural actor and no comparison on this count can be made. His emotions are well balanced and never go overboard. Generally Malaylam classical movies carry the natural environment and simple attires and no loud and pompous dramatic scenes or actions like Hindi, telungu and tamil movies.

u have really said it mohanlal is undoubtedly a good actor but equally capable are others too, especially kamal who has more acting experience Director always is to be appreciated if good films are appreciated irrespective of which language it is made
Malayalam version is the best because none of the actors had any reference to look and hence gave a very natural performance. In all other versions they have just mimicked the original.
Original is always best!! bcoz every other remakes were released with the knowledge of original's output & success But original film is always special as it was released only with the hope of R&D :)
I am a Kannadiga and naturally gravitate toward my language's edition. However, I am sure and glad that Malayalam's version would definitely be the numero uno, even if I do not understand 90% of the language. Kudos to Jeethu Joseph. The imitators can only be termed as second-hand.
At last a film with a good theme containing good advice and warning to the parents of teen aged boys that even boys should not be left from keeping a watch on their movements with friends and behavior and attitude, thinking that only girls parents only should be watchful. This is presented excellently in Drishyam and all parents should see any of the five versions a ailable to them.if all parents both rich and otherwise learn from the movie to control their sons from bad behavior and vices ,our Indian girls and parents heave a sigh of relief. Grading of overall production and performance is first original Malayalam, second Telugu version, third Tamil, fkurthHindi version and last but not least Kannada version, overall all versions are good.jeediguntagoa
I have read the reviews and therefore know a bit about the story/plot. I have not seen any of the versions but I know the Malayalam version would be the best and the Kannada version would be the worst... I am not a Malayali and I love Karnataka...

There is no attempt by me to denigrate Kannada movies. My real problem is with Ravichandran. I have seen him from his first movie Prema Loka to about 5 years ago when I had to leave Bangalore. I am certain the Kannada version would have been brilliant with a young Anant Nag or even Shankar Nag (I miss him so much)...

If you have not seen the movie how can you comment which is best and which is worst. Just don\'t judge with per-meditated mindset. Every language has good and bad movies just learn to appreciate the good ones. For your information, Kannada version is a good movie and scores better than Hindi. I have seen all the versions of Drushya...
