Our society is becoming transactional because we are 100% obsessed with economic development without paying even 10% attention to happiness. Our social fabric was torn long back in just one generation and we are not even aware of this issue. People are moving in millions to cities leaving their earlier generations in small towns and govts wants to still investment in cities to create more facilities. When large families get divided like this into much smaller nuclear families, we as a society will surely become transactional. Our focus will always be on career, discount shopping, site seeing, 2BHK flats, repaying loans, single child, FB/ WhatsApp, and what not.
