It was a superb movie I have ever seen. I was young at that time and still remember the story & songs of the film. Bimal Roy was a great director and we still remember his great films which we lack now.

What The Gujarati people did with the title of this movie highlights what huge fans of Bollywood movies the Gujarati people are!

After seeing this movie, scores of Gujarati people adopted the title of this movie as their surname!

Even one of the biggest actresses of the time Asha Patel changed her surname to Asha Parekh after seeing this movie!

This is the true power of Bollywood movies!

These movies can make the savviest people in India do absolutely m0r0n1c things!

This is a classic with splendid songs. Can we have a colour version of this please like Hum Dono and Naya Daur.

Alan, as you say it is a classic and we should let it remain so without colouring it. I personally feel the originals HumDono , Naya Daur Mughale-e-azam are masterpieces in Black and White. The audience should learn to appreciate their beauty in original, if they want to view them at all. Re touch them digitally for better quality for sure, rather than fashioning them with colours simply to appeal the Gen next!
And thanks Sukanya for reviewing this brilliant but hidden jewel of Indian Cinema!
