We need more people like you. Problem is motivation. Lot of our people , especially young people are motivated by social events. Selfie challenge, ASL Ice Bucket etc. These media speaks their language. So why not use it to the nature's advantage. I want to plant 4 trees around my house and i will challenge 3 of my friends to do the same. Everyone needs something to kick start them. PATH WE TAKE MAY BE DIFFERENT, BUT END RESULT IS JUST THE SAME. Please keep up your good work.
But How good is a coconut tree for the eco-system. We ought to choose the trees we plant as well. Coconut tree is not a great contributor to the eco-system. More over Coconut is more of a domestic tree which needs a lot of care and water to grow. Does not give a lot of shade and thus does not maintain ground water level. Shady trees that use little water to sustain and needs little maintenance could be the ideal choice. Example Neem, Pongamia, Siris (Albizia lebbeck), Alexandrian Laurel (Vaembu, Pungai, Vagai and Punnai respectively in tamil) are some good trees for the ecosystem.

Not all houses can support Large branching trees. Coconut tree grows straight up and can be controlled and less littering type. But if you have bigger area around the house, yes by all means, plant a Large Tree.

Senso.. There is also thing called common sense. Same glove does not fit all hands. So do not apply chain whatevre that is bad to chain good thing. This is not Chain Smoking. India needs more of VIRAL good things to happen.
