its not only women, even men should know cooking. Just try to understand what she is trying to convey here. She is just trying to depict that she doesn't belong to common Indian people but is special. She has just come in to limelight before that she was just an ordinary women. Had it been said by Kareena we would have point to believe her. Had she said she knows cooking a lot she would have won heart of many Indian people.

you are right, this has become a status symbol of such a womens. cooking is natural thing in womens if they don't know cooking they are useless. The life of heroins are not more than 35 years and after that they will have to do ads related with cooking only. its better for her to tell truth rather than telling things which goes more against her.
