A very good review
by pankaj mistry on Sep 08, 2014 10:19 AM

I absolutely agree with the author. Film lacked soul. It was a movie that had a story but no purpose. Priyanka Chopra was not very convincing. Movie just went thru the motions, without never completely capturing the struggle Mary Kom went thru in Manipur, be it financial or the disturbances. Also the issue of corruption in boxing federation was also not elaborated completely. All in all it was a movie that tried to cover too many things and never went deep into any of the issues

MARY KOM
by gopal pingali on Sep 08, 2014 07:30 AM

I saw the film yesterday with my family. The film is clean and our family enjoyed it. Priyanka did a great job. The husband also played well, but there was amessy combination of fact and fiction in some parts which struck a jarring note. the weakest moment in the movie is the phone call made by the husband just before the final match to his wife about their son undergoing a surgery in India. Suddenly, the husband made a transition from a great guy to the weakest guy in the world. I wonder if the script was shown to Mary Kom herself! But, it should be seen.

A most honest review I have read in a long time
by Monikut Sharma on Sep 07, 2014 05:33 PM  | Hide replies

As my tagline says, it is one of the most honest reviews I have read in a long long time. In a day of paid news and superficial intellectual pretensions, never expected the reviewer to analyse the heart of the film and present a prognosis so candidly. It is indeed true that the film has failed as far as doing justice to MC Mary Kom, her struggle, the depiction of the North East is concerned. The reviewer hits the nail on the head with these lies and I quote : " its continuous onslaught of a fabricated accent" (sounds Nepali to me); " he purpose of telling her story should be to acquaint us with her intimately, the struggler behind the sports star, Omung Kumar manages it only superficially." (100% bang on target); "the purpose of telling her story should be to acquaint us with her intimately, the struggler behind the sports star, Omung Kumar manages it only superficially.

As commendable her physical transformation is, Chopra fails to bring forth the person within.
(Touche!).

EXCELLENT MOVIE- MARY KOM
by PARSHAN on Sep 06, 2014 04:10 PM

This movie is far better than , JO JEETHA WOHI SIKANDAR,BHAJ MILKA BHAG, AND CHAK DE INDIA. I assure you that will enjoy this movie with your entire family members, clean movie, real story, Excellent performance from PRIYANKA CHOPRA and really sorry for the commitments shown by FEDERATION OF BOXING CLUB IN INDIA . What she got i.s MAR KOM after winning GOLD MEDALS,(JUST MEDALS AND CERTIFICATES) where as our cricketers MINT MONEY with BCCI and Sponsors,

A girl from small village Manipur, what she achieved from Monetary point of view, NOTHING BUT FAME TO OUR COUNTRY. Our Dear Modi should take care of this sport too not just Cricket that Mr Jailtley was engaged and done everything to Cricket

I have a very high expectation from our dear PM and sure he will change the face of India very soon. He could also make quick Visits to Gulf Countries and Iran for the betterment of India and bring good fortune for India.

huge difference obviously between calibre of rakeysh mehra and omung kumar first time director
can't expect it to match BMB level..
though MK deserved a better director..
first time directors better off with fiction

Indians are

raxcially close to the negrito stream.

Most Indians have negrito features palpable on their faces and physiques.

For this Hindi actress, it is most palpable on her thick segmented lips.

Best Biopic.
by arvind agarwal on Sep 06, 2014 12:13 PM  | Hide replies

Priyanka Chopra gets all Kudos from me for putting up a sterling performance! Mary Kom is one of the best biopics i have seen in a long time, far superior than that pretentious biopic on Shri Milkha Singh. I just loved Priyankas performance especially the fight scenes. East or West MARY KOM IS THE BEST, PRIYANKA CHOPRA ZINDABAD, OMUNG KUMAR INDABAD, JAI HIND!
