Saharukh should now take Retirement, he made enough money my making all masala movies. though he compare himself with Amitabh, but in last 20 years there are hardly 5-6 movies, he yes done which are memorable.
It is a total flop show. Irony is that people have already wasted their money by making advance booking of tickets and that money can’t be taken back. Like the plot the movie, the producer and Mr. Shahrukh Khan are thieves who are taking away the money of common people by showing a third class movie and are becoming richer and richer every day.
Not really surprised to see 45 cr collections for this movie.Lets out this in context.A tamil movie Kaththi released on same Diwali eve collected 15 cr.Considering that it is seen by mostly tamil population of around 7 cr,if you extrapolate this on national level(as if it had entire audience of india) then this movie has done close to 200 cr on the first day itself. This basically implies that tamil movies by way of their super stars and more diversified themes are able to attract more people to the theaters than what bollywood does...
I am really a great SRK fan and watched the movie but it did not match my expectations. The plot is easily detectable and the 3 hours long movie with more than 40 minutes of average songs could make you really bored and want to exit earlier.

Comparing with other biggies in terms of its five days collection, Happy New Year stands second after Aamir Khan’s ‘Dhoom 3’ which minted Rs 149.46 within same time period.

Although it’s normal for films to drop numbers at the box office in the second week, in the case of Happy New Year, that let down is happening in the first week itself, and while it’s a certified hit by any standards, higher aspirations like breaking Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3’s record which had grossed over Rs. 500 crores, is a no contest or for that matter even beating the record of Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang which is sitting pretty with more than Rs. 300 crores.
