Adding another 9 crore, HAPPY NEW YEAR has netted 196 crore (including dubbed version totals) in three weeks from India and is a super hit for it’s worldwide distributor Yash Raj Films. HAPPY NEW YEAR is superb in the overseas grossing nearly $16m with £1,312,000 from UK and $3,705,000 from the US, till the fourth weekend (14-16 November).
This Friday will witness the release of the Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru directed Govinda, Saif and Ileana starrer, HAPPY ENDING. Given that the director duo are associated with hat ke yet entertaining films, popular audio and also Saif being back to his forte, HAPPY ENDING, is expected to embark on a reasonably impressive start.
The major release of last week, Yash Raj Films’ Shaad Ali directed, KILL / DILL, failed to entice the audience in to the cinemas in a big way. The opening weekend saw KILL/DILL netting 19-20 crore, which is disappointing for a Govinda, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar starrer. The film is so-so in the overseas, grossing �100,000 from UK and $175,000 from the US during the opening weekend (14-16 November).
Meanwhile, the Akshay Kumar (extended cameo) venture, THE SHAUKEENS, has been rejected.
