Nothing new

There is nothing special about that movie. Similar story movies came in South 30-40 years ago with better actors. See for example, Dharmadata (ANR) of telugu. May be this is new to Hindi people and due to Amitabh's fame.

You are abs right. The movie you talk about is "School Master" that came about four decades ago, all the great actors in that film are no more (Sathyan, Prem Nazir, Thikjurussi & above all Sivaji Ganesan and Aranmula Ponnamma). All the actors provided far superior performances in that Malayalam film.

I cannot agree more.... what a fantastic film!! The love of Hema and Amitji, the way the friendship of Amitji and Paresh Rawal was brought out, the way the relationship of parents and children was told... the respect Salman had for Amit... all bring tears in the eyes of a genuine normal human being... really a film for the home library....
