He is one of the too good looking men in the Indian film industry.
It is unbelievable that he is 60 today.
He was at his most good looking best in Saagara Sangamam and his best performance is 16 vayadinile a role which no actor would have accepted.
As a producer he is too far ahead of times and all his movies were either misunderstood or not understood at all!
He is a great movie maker; the only reason he failed as a movie maker is because he set his targets far too high and just couldn't complete the last step tot he perfection and the whole edifice crumbled.
A movie (where some missiles are involved) which he wanted to be a kind of a comedy was taken as a serious movie and the pic failed. Ditto with Dasavatharam- it is too fast and none could understand it;

He is not the macho kind of men in the Greek Gawd mould; I haven't seen more beautiful eyes in a man than his.

Another major problem with Kamal especially when was the movie maker was that he did not draw on the support of his cast. His movies often seem as if he wanted to everything himself (fight, dance, emote, comedy, double role) and the movies ended up looking like a talent show. He should have trusted his co-actors more and should have shared the burden.

What you said never failed to cross my mind too; but I gave him the benefit of doubt- don't know what his compulsions were. His case was like one failed in the mid process of metamorphosis
