I think the best role Mr. Amrapupkar played has been as Bal Gangadhar Tilak in a Hindi tele serial named Swaraj. I wish i could watch that series again.
Sadashiv Amrapurkar's career in films did not happen "by chance" but on the strength of his theatre performances we (Nachiket & Jayoo) cast him in 1979 to play Lokmanya Tilak in our Marathi feature film 22 JUNE 1897 (winner of 2 National Awards, 2 State and 2 Filmfare awards.) Marathi films in those days were not part of the "film industry" and so his DEBUT FILM does not find the place it deserves in Sadashiv's filmography.
