Drishyam
by Neo on Jun 20, 2014 08:30 AM  | Hide replies

Drishyam was an amazing story. Since this is just a copy of that movie, I am sure kannada audience will also make it a hit! Its sad that Kannada movies are all about copies of other movies. Sadly, there are very few good writers, actors and technicians left in this industry today!

What non-sense you are writing man? If you don't know about Kannada movies keep quiet. To make you aware, last year we had so many great movies in different genres like Simple Agi Ondu Love Story, Lucia, Jatta, Tony, Gombegala Love, 6-5=2, Bhajarangi just to name a few. This year also Ugram, Ulidavaru Kandante, Gajakesari, Sawari etc.

Mr.Ravi, Neo's opinion is correct.By listing a few movies here and there will not win your argument.By all means Kannada film world has very few directors, wriers and technicians.Prakash Rai moved to Tamil as Prakash Raj.Ravichandaran has produced in Tamil under OSCAR Banner.but he is selective to act movies in Kannada.Take Malayalam field.....u can find lot of exceptionally talented artists....see the realism in stories....Tamil too has greatest actors of all seasons...Kamal Hassan as example.Being a tamilian,He achieved perfection in takling to Dharwad style Kannada which even a kannada actor can not perform....!

Chief minister of Tamil nadu Madam Jayalalitha is a kannadiga, Super star Rajanikanth born and brought up in Kannada soil Thats why he is very simple and down to earth person, Prabhudeva is a Kannadiga(Mysore), Arjun sarja is a Kannadiga etc.. so many kannadigas are performing every where, not only in Tamil nadu.

This is not a debate on Kannadiga vs Tamils vs Malayalis vs telugus. ... Our argument here is with respect to present kannada cine field only. Original kannada writers are hard to find now a days and a good quality movies are very rare. Wholesome Family entertainers are rare to find. In most of the recent movies we can see the quality of kannada spoken being restricted to padavara halli kannada. It is very rare and hard to see movies of good old days when Dr. RajKumar, Dr. Vishnu Vardhan, Ananth Nag & (jana priya actor) Shankar nag,Rajesh, Lokesh, Director & actor T.S. Nagabharana etc ..performed with very clear kannada diction and standard. Where has that standard kannada usuage gone? At present days we cannot see classic directors like Puttannakangal, G.V. Iyer, Rajendra Babu and very few are left like Girish Karnad, T.S. Nagabharana, yograj bhat even they seem to sit quiet.
My dear brother it is not question of jealousy but a matter of regret that original kannada movie making find its downward spiral where re-make movies become the trend.

Very Very Thanks and felt very respect towards to you Mr. Ramakrishnan. You have watched allmost all kannada movies, so you have so much knowledge about kannada. but from my side I havent watched any south indian movies except My Kannada. In my child wood I have seen tamil movie " Dalapathi" and " Roja " In Telugu " Garaanamagadu" only. so i dont have any knowledge about Tamil,Telugu or Malayalam movies to select thier faults like you do in our Kannada movies. Again I am feeling proud seeing in your comments watching heavy legends were/are there in Our Kannada indusitry. so we are in good position. Thanks Mr.Ramakrishna swamy.

Mohan Lal - India's best actor
by mohan on Jun 20, 2014 12:25 AM  | Hide replies

Outstanding actor. Great acting in Drushyam as usual. Hope the country recognizes this great talent. His earlier movie 'Manichitratazhu' was remade as Chandramukhi in other languages and with over and under-action from Rajnikanth it was not a shadow of the original. Nothing could have matched it as 5 directors were involved in the original movie, which others copied. Issue is not about copying, but the country doesn't know about the original talents.

Agreed. For a small state with a limited audience, Kerala has disproportionately large number of good writers, technicians and talented actors. Mohanlal may not be the six pack actor of bollywood, but anyone who has seen his movies understand that acting is not just about physical looks. I dont there is any Khan who has the talent of Mohanlal...

frankly speaking in drishyam mohanlal is not upto the mark.
people r praising unnecessarly for him in this movie. there is no much diffference in acting this one too. almost same expression and same style what we see in his recent.
the movie bcome hit not bcos of his acting . its mainly bcos of the script and direction.
he is nowadays nomore natural flexible actor.
I love this great actor. but im still searching his good old days amazing natural easy acting.
im waiting for kamal version.
This role was more suitable for mammootty than mohan lal.

No news about other Kannada movies.
by Ravi S on Jun 19, 2014 06:51 PM  | Hide replies

There was no news about Kannada movies for quite a long time now. Why suddenly now? Is it because it is a remake of Malayalam Movie or producers paid? There were so many good movies. Gajakesari which starred Yash outclassed other languages movies released on the same day. Manikya which starred Sudeep collected more than 10 crores crores in one week.

We have to give credit where it is due. The Malayalam original movie is outstanding. It is being remade in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada. I recommend seeing it in original.

malayalam movie itself was inspired by 2008 Japanese film Suspect X which is an adaptation of the novel The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. Some[who?] pointed out that the film's first half has similarities to the 1996 film Before and After, which is based on the 1992 novel of the same title by American writer Rosellen Brown. although the director denied it
