strange discussion

Some people here are having a strange discussion about where actresses in Tamil movies are from. The woman featured here is herself from Chennai, so I wonder where all the fuss about "imported beauty" is coming from...I suppose this is a place for jobless people to vent their frustrations!

It is a fact that there is not a single lady from Tamilnadu who is also acting in Tamil Cinema. Mostly the actresses are from either Kerala or Karnataka (and not from North as you mention here). Some Telegu women born and brought up in Tamilnadu have also acted in Tamil movies but not Tamil women. Even those so called Tamil Women acting, are not brought up in Tamilnadu but elsewhere in India. Possibly Tamil Women in Tamilnadu are brought up that way. But this has been the case not just now, but for the past 50 years. Starting with Padmini Sisters, Savithri, KR Vijaya to Nayanthara, Samantha all are imports only. But mostly they are from South. It was only Kushboo in early 90s and later Simran & Jyothika and now Hanshika Motwani who could make a bit of change to this well established trend. But your comment about "Most of the Women working in Tamil are North Indians" is incorrect. Possibly that is true in the case of Telegu films. There also women from Kerala and Karnataka dominate.
