i agree totally, in aandhi she pronounced so badly,what ever ones spiritual life if it takes away from society without interacting with it, it is not atall admirable of course sabitri is better in this respect also.

Its not that she had to live in seclusion, she CHOOSE to live in seclusion when she could have very well continued under the glare of the glamor lights.
What is commendable is that with her iron will she maintained her stand to remain secluded for more than 3 decades when she knew that entire Bengal was ever ready to be fed anything out of her hand.
I don't think Suchitra Sen can be encased in the names of just few successful movies - she was a phenomenon that ruled many hearts and minds even after her self imposed retirement.
She was not only the darling of our previous generation but also of our generation who were in their teens when she retired from film world and started leading a secluded life.She has commanded respect much more than many actors or actress of her time.
