Haven't seen the film, but have read Chugtai: Bold for her times, but rather commonplace otherwise. Manto, on the other hand, is a much better writer, with a wider and more universal appeal.
Don't know if this lesbian theme is real in the film, or has just been imagined by the author/blog he refers to. Just a reference to a quilt could be accidental, and these guys might be reading some meaning in it.
