I fully agree. I cant understand why Raja Sen has used a language uncommon to a lay man.To impress whom?
Appropos comment of Velvet, I have said much the same thing several times that reviewing of a film is a subjective matter and the reviewer howsoever competent, presents his views of the film with his sensibilities and thus, cannot please every one. Nor is he suppose to predict the commercial success or failure of the film. But, Velvet, as you will learn, after your several visits to this forum that this is more about gleeful entertainment for the commentators than the movie which is being reviewed itself. The reviewer happens to be their favourite punching bag and they continue harping on their lack of understanding of the reviewers' English. Perhaps, I feel, that is more simpler than engaging in debate of film making aspects which requires certain capability. As you correctly say it is their decision to read the review and decide to waste their time. Also, I would add that there are sufficient numbers of reviews of any given film available in media and you can take your pick of reviewers whom you like and understand.
I genuinely pity the lamentable level of literacy and intellectual intrigue in the readers of this review. Why do we keep forgetting this is a written medium and a review, albeit an opinion, by a professional has to look and read like one. The reviewer (a journalist first) owes it to the reader to give complete information so that the reader can make an informed decision. To all the naysayers, if you really dislike Raja Sen or his reviewing skills, don't come back and read them and blame him for wasting your time. You took the initiative to read and comment, so the onus of wasted time is upon you, and not him. Please, get an education before you shoot your mouth off so ignorantly.
