Many people in the west follow Hinduism quielty or secretly , there many famous people who last wish was to be cremated and ashes scattered.

human beings are guests in this planet and live on loan from mother earth. After death there is no need to stay on . Better be done and dusted and be one with nature and be with mother earth in the form of ashes and free from the loans.

This has nothing to do with Hinduism/any religion. MOST people in the west are cremated. Infact India doesn't even figure in the top ten nations with highest percentage of people are cremated. In Scandinavia, almost 99% of people are cremated after death and in Japan it is almost 100%. USA is one of the Western countries with low cremation rates though. Roman Catholic countries also have comparitively lower cremation rates.

Rishant, u r wrong. People in the west have understood the advantages of Hindu ritual of cremation. The body is totally destroyed so that the indestructible soul is liberated from the mortal remains.
