Because offscreen, they prefer to look and behave as any other person on the street unlike "northie" actors who throw attitude and are bedecked like a Christmas tree even when they are not in front of camera.

because they are not showoff like Bollywood actors.

Because Tamil actors are Dravidians like the population, while in Hindi/Urdu foreigners took over cinema to propagate their racist ideas in India like fair and lovely.

@dravidian, in that case why do you people import fair and beautiful actresses from other regions including north india? if talent is so important for you people why dont you tolerate own dark females in ur regional movies?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry looking at your knowledge. I dont know where you get this idea that all girls from South are dark. Do you know that Ashiwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Deepika, Hema Malini, Sridevi are all from South ?. They are not any genetic mutants

And ur knowledge is also incomplete. Aishwarya is not dark that is fine but Sridevi and Shilpa shetty have undergone some treatment to change skin color. Google their old pictures and you will come to know. Even Rekha..

You have left Vaijayantimala in your list.It should not be a north vs South as talents should beaccepted everywhere.Dark complexion in heroines will not be a hinderance to good acting. If you are too fair in your complexion but your acting skills are not fair enough what's the use?

He has point!! Although i am great admirer of South india's culture, including simplicity & clean living & thinking, my calculation fails when i see the heroines there..I guess when north was needing it, they got from south ( sri, rekha, etc) and now it is north turn!! Nothing wrong!!
