Depression
by Jack Daniels on Aug 12, 2014 03:49 PM

Depression is a medical condition and the causes for it are unknown as of now. Mostly depression is attributed to Hormonal Imbalances.

Depression can only be suffered and cannot be explained or made felt by others. Mind gets caught in an infinite loop of something and cannot come out of it by itself.

A person is only as strong as his mind and it is not the other way around. Mind controls the person and that is why a person is able to commit suicide or at the same time avoid it.

Every body is human and no one is born to teach lessons, only people learn lessons from others experiences.

Hope future generations will research brain and uncover all the marvels and take the humans out of medical sufferings.

Robin Williams (RW) death.
by Inapakutiki Raju on Aug 12, 2014 12:06 PM  | Hide replies

The following statement of Mr. RW's wife made me write this comment:

"As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin's death but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions," she said.

Yes, RW did contribute to the development of humanity by enacting roles that unfolded the finest emotions and values. This is the point that makes one ponder over the reason for his death (being told as Suicide). Another factor that surprises many is his prolonged depression. Is it not fair for us to ask the following questions to ourselves taking cue from his death?
1. what is depression?
2. What makes one to allow him/herself to be engulfed by it?
3. When we allow the depression to take charge of our lives can we not prevent it to do so?
4. what is our faith in the Almighty that seamlessly orchestrates this universe in infinite possible ways and how do we relate to that Almighty?
5. When one can kill the self, why not use the same power to reconstruct it?
6. what did the adults like RW teach us by their extreme and unnatural decisions to end their lives?
7. The fame, Oscar winning, money, wealth and international recognition are all zero before the so called depression due to personal discomfort?

We need to answer these questions for ourselves.

I suffered depression, so I can definitely answer your question -

1. Depression is constant feeling of sadness, hopelessness, lack of interest in anything to do, lack of interest in life. There are constant thoughts of suicide. You just want to life in your bed and do nothing. You constantly cry.

2. It really is not in our control. Brain chemistry changes. Request you to look up healthy brain and brain in depression scans.

3. As I said, brain chemistry changes. Sometimes, people are not supportive, because, like you, they don't understand it. Have you EVER have had days where you don't want to do anything. Depression becomes that, everyday, for months or years.

Ppl say "Get over it", "Appreciate the positives", "Many people have it worse".....guess what...we know all that, but we still don't feel positive and kicked up.

4. Faith in almighty can only take you that far. There are many reasons ppl fall in depression - sometimes its hormonal too.

You only look at people's life through keyhole. Believe me, you know nothing of people's struggles - even famous people's.

5. Depression alters your thinking. Sometimes you feel like you're at the point of no return, that it seems easier to kill yourself than reconstruct.

For person "A" it might be a minor blip in their life, but for a depressed person "B", it might be the point where they feel they can't change anything. They feel hopeless and powerless.

For depressed people, even getting out of bed is a challenge, leave alone reconstructing life. Suicide seems like an easier thing to do, when burden of life seems too much.

Again, what for person "A" is a tiny pebble, may feel like a huge boulder on their back for depressed person "B".

6. Get real. Everyone leads their life and live their problems. No one leads their life to be an example for others.

7. A person may have wealth, fame, but if their life, say, they want parental recognition, then nothing else will make them happy.

Depressed people may have had difficult childhood. Or, they may have extraordinary attachment to a particular thing in life and when they don't get it and don't even feel close to getting it, they feel worthless, useless and hopeless.

Overthinking leads to depression. Hormonal imbalances may lead to depression. There are many reasons.
