He made movies in which even a servant will wear an Aramani Suit. And, an unemployed hero will not be able to pay college fees but will drive fancy cars and sing songs in switzerland. He was commercially very successful because he could sell the life style of rich and powerful for poor masses.
He represented fantasy side of story telling - very commercial, very illogical and senseless dramas. He was a reasonable director, but honestly he was not even 1% of film maker when compared to true geniuses like Satyajeet Ray, Guru Dutt, Vimal Roy, Rishikesh Mukherjee, K. Mehboob, Khwaja Ahmad Abbas etc.
he brought immmense beauty to the indian screen literally ! maybe the stories flopped here and there a bit but never the performances or the direction or the beauty .

He was never a great film maker. If some one call JTHJ a classic, it only speak of the quality of this portal. He was never in league of classical film makers!

Yashji was one of the top directors of our film world. His romanticism with films was matchless. He could creat love in the film that we would feel ourselves. We miss you Yashji. Dhiru Mistry
