every assessment adds - too intricate or too rooted to a place or language. Such daftness, every plot is chiseled to a place, language, and people. Don't tell me Bruce Springsteen or Willie Nelson sing for a Delhi or Chennai audience. There is so much skill in that they do that local cultural variance does not distract. Rather it adds to the message.
A small budget film made by unknown filmmakers for whom nobody is lobbying won the national awards is more encouraging story. Also it is selected for Oscar as an Indian entry is icing on the cake. They are achieved more than winning Oscar.
More than that, it also proved that big budget & big stars movies made by well known & wealthy film makers cannot make a meaning full movie for which India should proud by showing to the world. This is real tragedy of bollywood & their film makers.
Plz check in you tube you will get the series of "mind your language" serial.. this is an exact copy of it. how can you send it to oscars..which is a copy..

Totally agreed with Maninder. English Vinglish is an average movie. Indian audience need to understand "different" movie does not mean "excellent" movie.
If film makers of bollywood are so much confident about their movies, why they are not sending their movies to Oscar independently & compete directly with other Hollywood movies in all categories. If their movies win any Oscar, it will prove that their movies are better than the Good Rood.
Are film makers of bollywood ready for this challenge ???

No Sanat, good road is a terrible movie pikd by khangres to show Gujrat and gujartis in poor light, how low you can stoop.
There are much better Malayalam movies which are produced every year but unnoticed. Two facts: It is not a big industry like bollywood. Secondly, not many to lobby for it.

Malayalam film made for small audience are more realistic unlike mass entertainers in Bollywood. Hence they tell stories differently. Malayalam film industry is also broad minded in that in their small world they accept people from other regions. Anupam Kher in Pranayam was cute, so also the beautiful song by Shreya ghosal, Annayum Rasoolum had Andrea Jeremiah. Other movies like Ustad Hotel, and a recent one of its kind road trip movie taken shot across Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra, Orissa, West Bengal and the North Eastern states were path breaking.
Every yr there is always a debate as to y one particular film has been nominated. The place on top is only for one. Instead of debating why not support the film whihc has been nominated
