Lunchbox has Irrfan Khan who is known to the western media (He was good in the simple & quirky film - New York I love you). Other than that the movie is quite simple - if you take away the basic premise of mixed lunchboxes, the screenplay doesn't really shine. There are a hundred films on love stories that begin with mistaken identities - a cross-connection, to borrow a term of land-line days. The other thing that's working for the film is the involvement of big names like UTV, Dharma, producers from Germany, France & US and of course the distribution clout of Sony. So kudos to first-time filmmaker Ritesh Batra for making a cute film. To answer Mr Chhabra - Does Lunchbox have a better chance of winning the Oscar - Absolutely! But is it a better film than Good Road because you and other opinion mongers think so - Naa-ah!

Agree. Big banners have budgets of 70-80 crores of which 25-30 crore is on publicity alone. In terms of ROI, smaller budget films like Madras Cafe, Vicky Donor, English Vinglish, Kahaani & Gangs of Waseypur 1 & 2 are rocking the critics & audiences alike.
This is the story of Indian cinema !!!! Lunch Box,being so much acclaimed cant even make a spot to the oscar... Grand Masti cant be seen with family members is a hit where as a movie with superb script like Madras cafe is a flop....
