No, he is not officially a Brahmin!
He is half Hindu and half Muslin.
The entire B_h_u_t_t clan is the result of lustful yet illegal liaison between the B_h_u_t_t patriarch (M_a_h_e_s_h 's father, Nana B_h_a_i) and S_h_i_r_i_n, a "junior" artist or extra (they were known in those days)!
