I have been singing his old hindi and bengali melodies since I was 10 years old. I used to hear the gramaphone records and above 500 stage shows I did . Yes, only Manna De and Manna De.None can become his COPY. He was a lovely person , whom I love from my heart. I intend to sing his bengali songs by translating in English. If anyone interested to help me, I will be grateful. Thanks
Bollyowood has lost another gem of a singer . The pentagon of Bollywood singers " Kishoreda , Manna Dey , Rafi Saab , Mukesh and Mahendra Kapoor " can never be created again . No singer of present generation can be classified in the above category , except maybe Udit Narayan or Kumar Sanu to some extent .The demise of Manna Dey is a great loss to Indian music .

Great singer. Never heard of him in the lat two decades and I was under impression he has been dead for the last two decades. Our media is only busy talking about Mangeshkar family. I think he must be from Bengal. So can Karnataka give him state funeral?
