Let Down Generation and Lord Falkland Director

I felt the movie was pretty average in terms of content and overall direction. What saved the film was the cinematography. I would not rate this movie more than a 5 or 6 (max) on 10. Too much noise about this director being the face of new generation.....many interviews on YouTube etc.....but the output seems pretty much average. It is a classic case of biting more than one can chew.
Actors did their part reasonably well so deserve their due. Importantly, this movie highlights the fact that no one can keep generating hit movies and also sit on the ivory tower at will...even if it is self-designed....the younger folks need to be humble, grounded, read more, get more life experience to really develop substance....the substance that Malayalam cinema was know for.....just abusing everything around you, everyone around you, becoming self-proclaimed rebels, and churning mastur!ation! Or drug abuse scenes does not merit viewer attention...

Yes, you are right. The younger generation of actors lack substance and are quite superficial.

They really need to read a lot and get more life experience.

This lack of substance is now manifesting in the infantile actions of the actors and superficial scripts of scriptwriters marked by immaturity.

Idukki Gold a good film

A good work by Ashiq Abu, though not maintained the level he already achieved. All actors were very good, with special mention of Ravindran. It has been more than 3 decades he never appeared on the screen. How many like him were sidelined with brutal one man show and domination of Big Ms and couple of others in Mollywood. It is they are also recognized, though a bit late.

Please don't blame M&M for every crisis the Malayalam film Industry has faced. Dirty politics is there in every field, not only within the film industry. The good thing is that due to high satellite rights producers are willing to take a risk by financing off beat movies. Hence more movies are releasing and many actors are getting a chance. This was not the case few years back.
