For the so called intellectuals, alcohol is a normal drink than water; he was not different either. One 'intellectual from Kerala' said, "alcohol is more purer than water." But he forgot to mention that this "purer" form of liquid is a poison.

However it is all destiny. There is no logic & relation between life span & alcohol.Several people in this world are alcoholic still they are able to manage a sound health for longer years.Limit & discipline is what is more important.

agree...Indian society must stop glorifying alcohol as a staple for 'intellectuals' and high society. A vegetarian stock people cannot indulge in alcohol.
He was one of the finest director in India and won more than 10 National Awards...That speaks for itself...no explanation required. I think he also made 2 Hindi movies - Raincoat (Ajay Devgan and Ash starrer) and The Last Liar with Amitabh. Although he mostly concentrated on Bengali movies....but Movie is afterall movie...It is global.
Rituparno Ghosh was a great director having won 12 national awards to his credit. He could have won more credits if he he lived more. Great loss. Dhiru Mistry

If death of a 49 year old is engaging all the headlines of National Website, then you should make yourself a bit educated
Rituporno ghosh belongd to that genre who still believe that poetry sells, if not thru pen, may be thru camera. His films touch you, where the feeling lingers. His demise needs to be remembered only through a crop of new soul-searchng films. RIP, sir. Film intelligentia would remain indebted to you!
