Lucky to be India
by Vineet Nagar on Mar 21, 2013 07:13 PM

He is lucky to be in India if he was in the US, he would have spent rest of his life after 92 in Jail. So he had a pretty good life in the last 20 years.

He did a crime and supported criminals and should pay for it. Five year is nothing compared to loss of life that his actions caused.

First a review petition, then ask for a larger bench, then find out some other ways like ill health, hospitalization, etc. But, I think he will still be within the walls of the jail.

none of his will be affected. Simple he will come out on parol and will enjoy freedom for life. after all indian law deals seperately with highly influential people they are seperate laws for them when compared to common man. just a temporary hiccup for his films. he will be out very soon.

There is no parole allowed in this verdict. Based on what his lawyer said, even if he appeals for review or to higher bench, it is very unlikely that he will get a bail.

Either the producers should use graphics or screen play gimmicks to manage their release or face the wrath for signing him with full knowledge of his case.

They would have known about the verdict date at least a month ago and would have completed all the required scenes.

Now, whoever manages to release their movies will try their best to use this judgement to promote their movie. This article is one of them.

An easy target-what about our wealth hoarding corrupt politicians
by nisha thoas on Mar 21, 2013 01:45 PM  | Hide replies

As expected, the court has gone after an easy target like Sanjay dutt. Since this happenend 20 yers back, hasn't he served his time already, in terms of stress. What he did was wrong, but nothing comparable to the present politicians who have hoarded wealth thanks to tax playing people like us, without giving an iota of thought to development of the country. And who hold degrees in corruption. And also a nexus with real estate agents and various others scamsters.WHy are they living in plush localities holding undeserved posts? Its sad, that the law is after weak targets and celebrities, who are always in public eye. Hope our law opens their eyes and see the reality!

India has murderers that doesn't mean the theifs are not to be convicted.
What mental stress you are talking about? He aided in killed hundreds and mental stress is a very mild punishment for his crime.

you too need to understand reality...he paid for what he has done....marrying twice, going abroad, drinking is what you call stress??...it is alright if we as commoner think about the stress because we are consious people...talking about politician yes theu too are corrupt, but it has to be proved a legal way...so dont make a hero of a person responsible for the deaths of many...

A celebrity must behave like a celebrity. It is due to his celebrity status that he has got less punishment. In fact,a celebrity must be given more punishment than a non-celebrity for the same offence.

Ask the bomb blast victims families what they feel after 20yrs now.Should the criminal be freed just because he has undergone stress(Making movies, Foreign Trips, Parties, 2nd Marriage etc). In my opinion his so called stress is peanuts compared to the dreadful situation that the victims families has undergone all these 20years. Had it being our own father/mother/Son/daughters... the victim, we don't realize the impact.

Just because the present politicians who have hoarded wealth that does not justify dutt's guilt.Ironically he escaped all these days because of these politicians. Of course they also should be punished.

The reality is the law has opened it's eye now after 20yrs.

Hope at least now the victim families have some peace.

all these comments - if you read the judgement - he is being convicted only because he has weapons that were bought illegally and not for killing hundreds of innocent people. the main masterminds are sitting in their palatial houses in dubai and pak

Sunil Dutt is a politician by himself, that too from the ruling party. Which easy target are you talking about.

He was caught with illegal possession of AK-56 that can drill 10 bullets per second in a target 1/2 a kilo meter, each bullet is 4 cm long travelling at 3/4 kilometer per 1 second.

This is not in defense of other criminals. But only to insist on the magnitude of the crime he has made.

None in our police force use this

kids are small, need to care of them, this can be ground for compassion.
films to be completed cannot be ground bcoz that would involve commercial intrest.
