Some people are given opportunity and boosted just because of their religion/cast. Thus, minorities and lower casts in India, even if they are below average, they are made stars and honored with rewards.. that credit goes to their cast/creed than real talent!!
Just checked Wikipedia, Nawazuddin Siddique has received four national awards in this year. I guess he is the only actor to receive 4 national awarsd in one year. Wow

Sridevi missed an national award for Moondram Pirai years back ,but again she could have been given a special award for English Vinglish,surprisingly they are giving it to Parineeti Chopra ...why is Sridevi's performance in English Vinglish which was critically praised all over the country which even got a standing ovation abroad.... ignored

parineeti is young, bubbly, hot sekshi, hence more impressive to juries than sri devi
National awards are truly worth the respect. There is no grand event, spectacular setup, paid publicity still these awards succeed to identify the real talents. Way to go India

Ok go and watch ur favorite khans or kapoors doing the dirty dancing, for meaningless lyrics, gawdy music, churning meaningless dialogs with heavy costumes. In the mean time learn to read the articles properly, vicky donor got the prize for the supporting actor but not as the best film. Kahani got rewarded only for the story

No offense...I like Irfan Khan, but he really is not a great actor....he plays only HIMSELF - be it Life of Pi or New York or SlumDog Millionaire or to that matter Vodafone ads. A good actor's 2 characters should be as different as chalk and cheese....like Hugh Laurie's "Dr. House" in House and "Mr. Little" in Stuart Little or "Jasper" in 101 Dalmations.
IK may not be as famous as a SRK or SK...but that still doesn't make "playing yourself" equal to "acting"

Well I dont disagree fully, He may not have varieties, or he may not be a great method actor though but he justifies the role he has played
