Admittedly, with boundless elation and without any pretense, this 1970 caper was the most entertaining, enthralling and enjoyable experience. A hardcore potboiler, this movie celebrated golden jubilee( in present times it sounds ancient) at various centres of the country.
After the stupendous success of musical blockbuster "Teesri Manzil"made in 1966 , Vijay anand , made "Johny...."in 1970 and the industry was compelled to call him the director with a midas touch.Fast and racy. this movie had not one but amillion feathers in the cap which make this movie still the darling of movie buffs.
The most notable aspect of this movie was the new lease of career life which the entire team got after it became blockbuster.BE it Dev Saab, Hema malini, pran, Jeevan. But Most importantly it was Premnath who had once in a life time role and a performance to match. With his immaculate dialogue delivery and ala parkinsons hand movement he nearly overshadowed all the actors. His confrontation scene with Sajjan is simply unforgettable. This scene had the best dialogues. Other top notch lines were Hema calling Dev a "bachha" in the aircraft, and Pran subtle admission to randhava that "zehar ho ta amrut hamne hamari marzi se khaya hai."
The movie had an incredible repeat value (Still has on the tv and video circuits)because of its lilting music ,flawless script and brilliant direction.Last but not the least the lenthy (45 min)and spot on climax made this m

was an iconic director, but sadly never got his due. He was one of the best in business.
