i dont think raja gives this demarkation. I think this the problem of mouse click on star. The author want to rating it 1 or two but bymistakely it comes all.
Early trends indicates Lootera going down the drain. IF Raja Sen gives 5 stars, the movie has to be a disaster. The guy is so disconnected with contemporary audience. Wonder how he manages to keep his job. Isnt there any accountability ? Rediff like Raja has just lost the plot.

the contemporary audience in India are little more intelligent than donkeys. So critics don't have to align with the contemporary audiences. Put a khan in a movie, shoot at exotic location, put some silly, senseless comedies fit for a 5 year old and you get a movie that crosses 200 mark. YJHD was rubbish and is nearing 200 crore mark. So its absolutely ok if a movie is a disaster.

I am no big fan of these so called contemporary stuff,yet Raja has a very biased sense of judging movies.i still prefer the romantic stuff of 50's-70's with superb music & clean family drama

Why do we need to see the movie when we can see logic can't we . The logic is Bengal Bengali either the movie will have something to do with Calcutta or the director will be a Bengali. The only 3-4 movies that Raja Sen has ever given a good review LSD, Kahani, Lootera all have one thing in common guess what?

What logic you are seeing? Both movies u mentioned got extraordinary reviews from all the reviewers bengalis or non bengalis. Its just that bengali directors are churning out very good movies. Why do you think all the other reviewers gave 4 to 5 stars to kahani and LSD? Same is the case with lootera. Check other reviews by other reviewers as well before u jump the guns.

Thats fine as long as you give others their due as well, Raja Sen gave 1 star for 3 Idiots and many more very decent movies. But consistently for Bengali movies he rates them high.

Well said Siddharth. I don't know what is the problem is Bengali movies are appreciated. Unfortunate is that we blame politicians for the divide. It is us who actually cultivate it.
No doubt that Mr. Raja Sen is a very mediocre reviewer who seems to neither knows movies nor art .. but hey guys ..maybe the movie is good .. some kernels of knowledage may have inadvertently filtered into his brain and he gave the right review to the right movie?

Just delete second letter from your name . That is what you really are .It happens, just try a bit hard to come out of it.
To begin with Lootera is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane whose "Udaan" is one of the finest movies made in Bollywood
Next it has Anurag Kashyap as the script writer. Apart from being a great director, Anurag has been doing fatastic job as a script/dialo writer over the last decade (Look at his past attempts at script writing - Satya/Yuva/Water/Udaan/Gangs of Wasseypur etc)
Also the plot is derived from O Henry's "The Last Leaf". Now if you are into short stories wwith twist endings you'd already kniow that "The Last Leaf" is a masterpiece
I dont understand the rationale behind such negative criticism by people here about a movie (that they havent watched yet) just because its rated highly by a film-critic they dont usually agree with. The point is with a basic plotline derived from "The Last Leaf", a script written by one of the finest scriptwiters in Bollywood and with a director like Vikramaditya Motwane, its more likely to be good than bad

I have read 'The Last Leaf' by O Henry and i agree that it's a masterpiece but sen giving five stars to a movie is something which is very very uncommon.. hope the movie meets the expectations!
