the artistes of yesteryears did not know how to manage their talent - the smarties of the indutry made them sign one signed contrcts and made a lot of money - the new generation with the presence of 100s of media management companies is boon to the artistes of today. So they shall never die of hunger or in poverty. these dyas eve nif you sing one good song and it is hit you ca live on the shows and the royaltry that can come from it provided you signed a good contract with your producers.
now days there is lot of money so it can get well shared unlike yesteryears when the cinema tickets used to be .75 paise to Rs 1.50

Very few know the fact that Poet Pradeep lead his whole life in extreme poverty died a very unknown death. He was never credited for his efforts for writing this song. This is Bollywood for you.

Besides, meaning of the song resonates more these days with rampant corruption and the abject insult to the spirit with which India's freedom fighters laid down their lives!

Correct, he was vert patriotic and tallented, in of the documentary shown in DD showed he wrote few of his wonderful song just like that on cigaraate cover , railway station. Salute to Mr Pradeep. He have not .001% credit for his work.
