Malayalam cinema has not been hero centric, see oldies like Kalli Chellama, Ayalate Sundari, Velutha Katrina Rathinirvedam,and many of Bharathans early movies all were heroine centric and even movies like Thulabharam, Naddi etc focussed more on the heroine, Chemeen etc had strong focus on the heroine later movie like Innale, MazhavilKavadi, ThalayanaManthram, Bharya etc again focussed on the heroine more. There are lots to add in this list, i agree however that with the advent of Shaji Kailas movies sidelined the heroine gradually focussing only on the hero but that trend is over now
