Oscar awards, atleast better then last few yrs
by arnab bhattacharya on Feb 25, 2013 03:19 PM  | Hide replies

again the better ones got ignored though the awards were decent enough except probably the Best actress category as Lawrence stood no where in front of Emanuelle Riva...

Coming to best actor; there is no doubt that Daniel Day Lewis is tremendous and deserving one but phoenix did an exemplary act in Paul anderson's The Master...

And oh! boy how they missed another anderson (Wes this time) from getting the bext adapted screenplay award for under-rated Monnrise Kingdom..One of the fresh film's this year..

Thankfully the propaganda film Zero Dark Thirty didnt win any award

Masters was the only movie in 2012 that I walked out of, bored the life out of me, and Phoenix was nothing great in the movie.

Academy plays it safe

so the Oscars this year were quite safe with the Academy trying to please everyone..how so

Lets look at the 9 BEST PICTURE nominations viz-a-viz how they fared in other categories.
Argo - Wins Best picture award, well deserved, after the snub given to Ben Affleck in the Best Director category
Les Miserables - Anne Hathaway got the best supporting actor
Django Unchained - Christoph Waltz QT for original screenplay
Life of Pi - Ang Lee got best director Best Visual Effects
Lincoln - DDL best actor (also this was a movie made by Spielberg on the life of one of America's most influential Presidents, so it had to win something)
Silver Linings Playbook - Jennifer Lawrence best actress
Amour - Best foreign language film
Zero Dark Thirty - Best Sound Editing (It can be argued who was given for consolation, Skyfall or this one)
Beast of Southern Wild - It didn't win any awards but will be happy with the fact that the 9 year old girl got nominated for Best Actress.
so all in all... Everybody wins something and everyone is content.

Argo won because it was made by Affleck and Clooney who both helped liberal sweetheart President during his now successful re-election campaign!

Hollywood is ruled by liberals who will never allow any movie that shows a successful Republican president and shows what racists his Democrat opponents were to win anything!

It is simply because an actor of the caliber of DDL played the role, did this movie win a main category Oscar!

Anil Ambani needs to keep this small detail in mind when he bets money on the Oscars the next time!

No surprises

There were no surprises!

The list of Oscar winners pretty much matches (with exceptions of those not nominated in a particular category like Ben Affleck wasn't nominated for best director Oscar) the Golden Globes list.

If this is surprising for anyone, than it is for Anil Ambani!

He has to wait another year to pay his way into the list of contenders!

It is funny that money can buy you anything except for an Oscar when you really, really, really, really, need it sooooooooo bad!

A bania lost today! Great!
