It was 1971. I was making a documentary film on 'Eye Donation' and was in search of a good voice. Someone told me that a young boy from Gujarat has come and has a lovely voice. I tried to contact him but could not. In 2005 he came to Vadodara to inaugrate a painting exhibition. I told him about the above incident and told him,'Farooque Saab, I was going to take your voice but could not do so but the film won the national award.' He said,'If you had taken my voice you would not have won the award.' I told him, 'Farooqe Saab, why dont you think that the film would have won The International Award?. He was burst into laughter. A great man. People would miss him forever.
